How many Thermage shots are typical
Thermage FLX is a radiofrequency treatment made by Solta Medical. Korean clinics count and price it in shots (샷, syat). Solta's device records call the same unit REP, and studies call it shots or pulses. Your doctor decides the count after examining you.
What the FDA has cleared
The FDA 510(k) clearance for Thermage FLX (K170758) lists:
- non-invasive treatment of periorbital wrinkles and rhytids, including the upper and lower eyelids;
- non-invasive treatment of wrinkles and rhytids;
- temporary improvement of cellulite, when used with vibration.

Solta's page for professionals says the Total Tips are used on and off the face and the Eye Tip is used over the eye. It says the 4.0 cm² tip covers a 33% larger area than the 3.0 cm² tip, with treatments up to 25% faster. That is a manufacturer statement. The page gives no shot counts per area.
No source we read defines REP. The numbers match the studies, though: the Eye Tip is listed at 225 and 450 REP, and an eyelid study used 450 shots, 225 per eyelid.
What studies and surveys used
- Survey of Asia-Pacific physicians (2026). Of 204 physicians in 8 countries, 90 were in Korea. The 600-shot and 900-shot 4 cm² tips were similarly popular. For the Total Tip, 67.2% preferred an interval of one year between treatments.
- Eyelid study in Asians (2025). A board-certified dermatologist used 450 shots in a single session, 225 per eyelid, with the 0.25 cm² Eye Tip.
- Chinese randomized trial (2026). The control arm used Thermage CPT, the previous generation, at 900 shots for the face in a single session.
We found no label or manufacturer guidance on how many shots each area needs, so ask the clinic what its package covers.
How clinics in Korea quote Thermage FLX prices
Korean clinics sell Thermage FLX by shot count. These patterns are common in the prices that clinics in this directory publish:
- By shot count. The face is sold at 300, 600 and 900 shots, and the eye tip at 225 and 450 shots.
- A lower price per shot for bigger packages. The price per shot falls as the count rises. The tables show the price per shot.
- A higher price when the head doctor performs it. Some clinics charge more when the head doctor (원장, wonjang) does the treatment.
- VAT usually excluded. "부가세 별도" (bugase byeoldo) means VAT is charged on top of the listed price. Most clinics list it this way, but not all.
- Event prices. Time-limited event prices are common. They are not in the tables on this page, and neither are packages that bundle another treatment.
A shot count alone does not say which areas are covered. Ask which areas the shots are for, and whether the eyes are included or sold separately.
