Stage 1
Research: what you want and what it costs
Start from a concern or a treatment, then see what clinics publish for it.
Questions to settle
- Which concern or treatment are you considering?
- What do clinics publish as their regular price for it, and in what unit?
- How many days can you rest afterwards?
Stage 2
Travel: entry rules, dates and budget
Check the entry rules for your passport early and set a budget in your own currency.
Questions to settle
- Do you need a visa or a K-ETA, and does a medical visa apply to you?
- Which dates fit, with time to recover before flying home?
- What is the budget in your own currency?
Stage 3
Choose and book: check the clinic and the terms
Compare clinics on the same terms, then read the booking and refund conditions before you pay.
Questions to settle
- Is the clinic registered to treat foreign patients?
- Are two quotes for the same product, units and number of shots?
- What do the deposit and cancellation terms say?
Stage 4
Treatment day: products, paperwork and language
Know what to check at the clinic and what to ask for before you leave.
Questions to settle
- Can you check the product or device that is used?
- Will you get an itemized receipt and a copy of your records?
- Who can interpret or help if something is unclear?
Stage 5
Recovery and the flight home
Plan the days after treatment around the downtime that sources give and around flying.
Questions to settle
- How long is the downtime for your treatment, according to published sources?
- When is it sensible to fly, and what should you ask the clinic?
- What follow-up do you need once you are home?
Stage 6
Money, records and problems
Know the tax position, keep your documents and know where to turn if something goes wrong.
Questions to settle
- Is a tourist VAT refund available right now?
- Do you have your receipts and records in a form you can use at home?
- Where do you complain or ask for mediation if treatment goes wrong?
