How many units of Botox are typical
In this guide, "Botox" means botulinum toxin in general, and "Botox (Allergan)" means the brand. A unit measures the potency of one product. It is not a volume. Your doctor decides the dose after examining you, and the numbers below are published reference points, not a prescription.
Only the first table below comes from regulator-approved labels. The later tables come from expert consensus papers and mostly cover areas that have no label dose.
Doses on US FDA-approved labels
These doses come from the US labels. We did not review each Korean product label.

The Botox Cosmetic label gives 44 units for frown lines and crow's feet together. Since 2024 it also covers platysma bands in the neck: 26, 31 or 36 units at 18, 23 or 28 sites, depending on how many vertical bands are treated per side.
The Botox Cosmetic label says that dosing more often than every 3 months has not been clinically evaluated. The Xeomin and Dysport labels say to re-treat no more often than every 3 months.
Other products on the US market have a label dose for frown lines only:

A bigger number is not a stronger dose. Dysport's 50 units and Daxxify's 40 units are counted in each product's own units. Do not read 50 Dysport units as 2.5 times the Botox dose.
Two of these products are made in Korea. The Jeuveau label names Daewoong Pharmaceutical in Seoul as the manufacturer, and a Korean news report says Jeuveau is the US name of Nabota. The Letybo label names Hugel in Chuncheon, Korea, and a Korean news report says Letybo is the export name of Botulax.
Cosmetic approvals in Korea
Korea's regulator is the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety (MFDS). Our sources confirm these cosmetic indications:

This list covers only the products whose approvals our sources confirm. It is not a list of every toxin sold in Korea.
Ranges for other areas (expert consensus, off-label)
For most other areas there is no label dose in our sources, so use is off-label. Two expert consensus papers from 2016 give typical ranges. The Global Aesthetics Consensus gives its ranges in Botox units. The Pan-Asian consensus, which includes Korean authors, gives its ranges in Xeomin units. It says lower doses are appropriate for many Asians, who have a lower muscle mass and less hyperdynamic activity than Caucasians.

For the trapezius, a small retrospective study in Asian women used a median of 50 Botox units per side (range 15 to 60), and a randomized comparison of Xeomin and Botox in 20 volunteers used 30 units per trapezius. All of this is low-level evidence.
Jaw (masseter): what the sources say
- The Pan-Asian consensus gives a typical 20 to 25 Xeomin units per side, with a range of 20 to 40 per side, at 3 to 5 points per side.
- The Global consensus gives 15 to 40 Botox units and does not say if that is per side or in total.
- A 2025 review says human studies typically used 20 to 50 units per side. It also quotes 24 to 60 units of Botox or Xeomin, or 60 to 300 units of Dysport, at three sites, without saying per side.
- The same review says no agreed average dose has been established.
Clinic price lists often say "50 units" for the jaw without saying whether it is per side or in total. Ask. For comparison with the figures above: 50 units in total is 25 per side if split evenly, and 50 units per side is the top of the 20 to 50 range in that review.
Units are not interchangeable
All six US labels (Botox Cosmetic, Dysport, Xeomin, Jeuveau, Letybo and Daxxify) say their units cannot be compared with, or converted into, the units of another product. The Korean MFDS-approved label text for Tmvus says the same. The Global consensus adds that the doses are not interchangeable and the dose-response curves are not parallel. No source we read gives a conversion, and this page does not give one.
How clinics in Korea quote Botox prices
Korean clinics rarely list a price per unit. They sell Botox by area, by product or by package. These patterns are common in the prices that clinics in this directory publish:
- By area. Forehead, frown lines and crow's feet each count as one area (1부위, ilbuwi). This matches how labels set doses: per area.
- Per 50 units for the jaw. Jaw (masseter) Botox is priced per 50 units.
- Per full face for "skin Botox". Skin Botox means microdroplet injections in the skin, priced for the whole face.
- 100-unit packages. Some clinics also sell 100-unit packages.
- Several prices for the same item, by product. Almost every clinic lists one item at different prices by toxin. Korean-made toxins (국산, guksan), such as Coretox, Nabota, Botulax, Newlux and Liztox, are usually priced below the others. Xeomin (Merz, Germany) and Dysport (Ipsen) are usually in the middle. Botox from Allergan (US) is usually priced highest, often several times the Korean-made price for the same area at the same clinic. Imported (수입, suip) means made outside Korea.
- A higher price when the head doctor injects. Some clinics charge more when the head doctor (원장, wonjang) performs the treatment.
- VAT usually excluded. "부가세 별도" (bugase byeoldo) means VAT is charged on top of the listed price. Most clinics list it this way, but not all.
- Event prices. Time-limited event prices are common. They are not in the tables on this page.
Because units are specific to each product, a price per unit is not a like-for-like number across brands. Compare the same area and the same product.
Vial sizes
A vial holds a fixed number of units. Some clinics price by the vial or sell 100-unit packages, so ask what a package contains.

- Which toxin will be used, and where is it made? Ask to see the box or the vial label.
- How many units go into each area, and is that per side or in total (especially for the jaw)? Ask to see the vial and the syringe being filled.
- Who injects: the head doctor or another doctor, and does that change the price?
- Is VAT included in the price, or added on top (부가세 별도)?
- Is the price for one area or for several, and is a touch-up or follow-up visit included or charged?
- Is this the regular price or an event price, and when does the event end?
FAQ
How many units of Botox for forehead lines?
On the US Botox Cosmetic label, forehead lines take 20 units at 5 sites, given together with the 20-unit frown-line dose, so 40 units in total. Xeomin's US label gives the same figures. The Pan-Asian consensus gives a lower typical forehead dose, 6 to 7 Xeomin units as microdroplets. Your doctor sets the dose after examining you.
How many units of Botox for crow's feet?
The US Botox Cosmetic label gives 24 units for crow's feet: 4 units at each of 3 sites per side, which is 12 units per side. Xeomin's label also gives 24 units. Consensus papers give typical ranges of 6 to 15 Botox units per side and 6 to 9 Xeomin units per eye side. The doctor chooses the dose.
How many units of Botox for the masseter (jaw)?
No label in our sources gives a masseter dose, so jaw slimming is off-label. The Pan-Asian consensus gives a typical 20 to 25 Xeomin units per side, range 20 to 40 per side. A 2025 review says human studies typically used 20 to 50 units per side and that no agreed average dose exists. Ask whether a clinic's "50 units" is per side or in total.
How much does Botox cost in Korea?
Korean clinics price Botox by area, not per unit, and list the same area at several prices by product. Korean-made toxins are usually priced below Xeomin and Dysport, and Botox from Allergan is usually priced highest, often several times the Korean-made price. The tables on this page show the current regular prices with the VAT basis and the check date for each clinic.
Is Korean Botox the same as Botox from Allergan?
No. Botox is Allergan's brand. Korean-made toxins such as Nabota and Botulax are different products with their own units. Our sources confirm Korean cosmetic approvals for frown lines and crow's feet for Botox, Nabota and Botulax. This page does not rank the products. Ask the clinic which one it uses.
Can I convert units between Botox brands?
No. The US labels for Botox Cosmetic, Dysport, Xeomin, Jeuveau, Letybo and Daxxify each say their units cannot be compared with or converted into another product's units, and the Korean label text for Tmvus says the same. A consensus paper adds that dose-response curves are not parallel. Ask the clinic for the number of units of the product it will use.
