What is Oligio
Oligio is made by WON TECH Co., Ltd. (원텍, Wontech) in Daejeon, South Korea. It launched in Korea in June 2020, right after MFDS approval. An analyst note reported in Korean news calls it Korea's first monopolar RF device. That is a market claim, not a regulatory finding.
How it works, according to its FDA filing:
- It is an RF therapy system at 6.78 MHz. The filing lists a maximum power of 145 W.
- It delivers RF energy through a disposable tip. The kit includes cooling gas and coupling fluid, and the skin surface is cooled.
- The handpiece has three vibration levels.
- The tips listed are 0.25 cm² and 4.0 cm².
Oligio X is the upgraded model. It has a G/X dual mode: X mode heats deeper layers, and G mode gives gentler heat aimed at the upper layers. Wontech says Oligio X delivers stronger energy and has a more efficient cooling system than the original Oligio.
Regulatory status
- Korea (MFDS). Oligio received MFDS approval on 9 June 2020. For Oligio X, a January 2024 analyst note in Korean news says approval went through in the third quarter, most likely of 2023. We could not confirm the exact date or the permit number.
- United States (FDA). The FDA cleared Oligio on 13 October 2022 (510(k) K221989) for electrocoagulation and hemostasis of soft tissue. That is the general RF-device indication and not a specific wrinkle claim. The filing relied on bench testing, and no clinical study was performed for it. Oligio X was cleared as K240313 (22 February 2024) and again as K243929 (21 January 2025), for non-invasive electrocoagulation and hemostasis of soft tissue. A "clearance" is not an approval. Do not read it as "FDA-cleared for lifting".
How clinics in Korea price Oligio
Korean clinics count Oligio in shots (샷, syat). A shot is the unit of treatment that the clinic counts and prices. These patterns are common in the prices that clinics in this directory publish:
- By shot count. Common items are 100, 300 and 600 shots per session. Ask how many shots the price includes and for which areas.
- Eye area. Some clinics list an eye Oligio separately.
- Oligio or Oligio X. An item does not always say which model it is. Ask which one the price is for.
- Packages with other devices. Some clinics sell Oligio in a package with another device, such as Shurink or Onda. A package price is not comparable to an Oligio-only price.
- VAT usually excluded. "부가세 별도" (bugase byeoldo) means VAT is charged on top of the listed price. Most clinics list it this way, but not all.
- Event prices. Time-limited event prices are common. Check the end date.

What the studies report
We found one Oligio-specific study. It was a 30-patient study in Thailand on lower facial laxity in Asian patients. It gave one treatment session in 3 to 4 passes and assessed improvement at 1, 3 and 6 months.
We found no head-to-head clinical study of Oligio against Thermage. The one head-to-head trial in our sources compared Volnewmer with Thermage FLX. See our comparison of Thermage, Oligio and Volnewmer.
Downtime and aftercare
- In the Thai study, 83% had redness right after treatment, and it cleared within 1 to 2 days. There were no serious adverse events. Patients returned to normal activities immediately.
- Aftercare in that study was daily sunscreen of SPF 30 or higher and avoiding direct sun.
- Average pain was 3.13 out of 10. Numbing cream had been applied under occlusion for 1 hour beforehand.
- The published study used one session. We did not find a manufacturer-recommended number of sessions or interval.
Your doctor gives aftercare instructions and decides the number of sessions.
Questions to ask the clinic

- Who performs the treatment, and does the price change if the head doctor does it?
- Is the price a package with another device, and what exactly is in it?
- Is VAT included (부가세 별도 means it is not), and is this a regular or an event price?

FAQ
What is Oligio?
Oligio is a non-invasive monopolar radiofrequency device made by Wontech in Daejeon, Korea. It delivers 6.78 MHz RF energy through a disposable tip while cooling the skin surface, and the maker aims it at tightening and lifting. It launched in Korea in June 2020 after MFDS approval. Oligio X is the upgraded model with a G/X dual mode.
Is Oligio FDA approved?
Oligio is FDA-cleared, not approved. The 2022 clearance (K221989) is for electrocoagulation and hemostasis of soft tissue, the general RF-device indication, and not for wrinkles or lifting. Oligio X has two later clearances with the same indication. Of the RF devices in our sources, only Thermage FLX's clearance lists wrinkles.
How is Oligio different from Thermage?
Both are monopolar RF devices at 6.78 MHz, and Oligio's FDA filing names Thermage FLX as a comparison device. They differ in maker, cooling, listed power and tips: the FDA filings list 145 W for Oligio and 400 W for Thermage FLX. We found no head-to-head study of the two. Read our comparison page.
How many Oligio sessions or shots do I need?
Your doctor decides after an examination. The one published Oligio study gave a single session and followed results for 6 months. We did not find a manufacturer-recommended number of sessions. Clinics sell Oligio by shot count, and the count depends on the area. Ask what the shots are for.
How much does Oligio cost in Korea?
Korean clinics usually price Oligio per session by shot count, with separate items for the eye area, and some sell packages with another device. VAT is often listed separately. The table on this page shows each clinic's published prices with the VAT basis and the check date. Compare the same model and shot count.
